Quick answer: Confirm that the engine turns but does not run, then preserve the complete fault report, start conditions, recent fuel work and measured diagnostic findings. Match the installed engine to the supplemental fuel document's exact serial scope below; complete the applicable base diagnosis first. A no-start complaint alone does not confirm a high-pressure pump. [1]

Application: A26 cranks/no-start information planning. The supplemental fuel example below has exact generation and serial limits. The separate cold-fuel example is IK1201406 revision 3, January 22, 2018. Do not transfer numerical tests or repair steps to another generation.

What does “cranks but will not start” mean on the work order?

Describe what happened without guessing the failed part: no starter engagement, engine turning without running, an unusually long start, or starting and then stopping. Note whether the engine was cold or warm, how long it had been parked, what happened before the complaint and whether it followed maintenance.

Save the exact warning messages and original scan report. Include available recorded cranking data and units from the service provider. Use the actual vehicle's starting instructions; this guide does not prescribe a cranking time, retry sequence, speed target or electrical bypass.

Which A26 generation does the fuel example cover?

IK1500109 revision 2, February 20, 2026, applies to 2017 A26 engines, ESN 4500000-4599999. It is supplemental fuel-system information, following base diagnostics; it explicitly notes airflow-related failures can also cause hard-start/no-start complaints. [1]

Have the provider identify the matched starting and fuel diagnostic procedures before using a supplemental branch. A current document date does not make its serial scope universal. If the installed engine is outside that range, obtain its applicable instructions rather than adapting numbers from this example.

Use the A26 identification guide to organize the physical engine record, VIN and known replacements. The copyright-2022 A26 Data Plate feature document describes stored vehicle/engine identity available through the service tool. [3] Preserve conflicting records for reconciliation.

Which fault details should accompany a no-start report?

Keep the full SPN/FMI and diagnostic-tool wording, reporting module, active/history status and event information. For example, IK1500109 includes SPN 5585 FMI 1 for below-range cranking rail pressure, and SPN 157 FMI 1/18 for below-range rail pressure at different severities. [1] Those descriptions are not an automatic pump diagnosis.

Ask which actual finding explains the code and which inspection or test established it. Preserve the complete report even when one code seems closest to the complaint. If data were unavailable during the event, say so.

Event Preserve Ask to establish
Engine turns but does not run Exact behavior, messages and recorded data. Which matched base diagnostic path applies?
Concern after fuel service Work order, fitted filter identity and sequence. What changed, and what finding confirms the issue?
Concern in cold weather Temperature, fuel/refill history and symptoms. Was the actual fuel condition checked?
Returns after parking What restored starting and recurrence conditions. Was repeatability verified under matched conditions?

Why preserve recent fuel work and cold-weather history?

For its stated engine range, IK1500109 includes post-service filter/standpipe checks, proper priming and fuel restriction/aeration evaluation. [1] Give the provider the original service invoice, installed-item identity and a timeline. Ask for the completed matched findings rather than performing an improvised priming or high-pressure-line test.

The separate IK1201406 revision 3, January 22, 2018, describes A26 fuel-gelling concerns that can include power loss or crank/no-start. It lists rail-pressure codes among possible accompanying faults and discusses the fitted primary-filter arrangement. [2] Cold weather alone does not prove gelling.

Record the actual ambient conditions, last successful start, fuel purchase/refill history and observed service findings. If the complaint is intermittent, preserve both the successful and unsuccessful conditions. Do not turn a dated additive or filter table into a universal product order.

What should a useful diagnostic result include?

Request the matched procedure, equipment used, measured value and units, operating/test condition, interpretation and component or path identified. Keep completed results separate from unperformed steps. If the engine started during service, ask what changed and how the original parked, cold or warm condition will be checked again.

A report saying only “fuel pressure low” leaves the repair basis unclear. Ask which upstream, control or leakage finding was established and which results support the proposed repair. Use the documented engine-specific limits; this overview gives no fuel-pressure, return-flow, vacuum, priming or cranking specification.

What belongs with an A26 starting-parts inquiry?

Send the installed engine serial/emissions record, VIN/chassis, complete diagnostic report, confirmed component finding, actual markings and recent repair history. International's Service Information overview describes VIN-based service/parts information with engine and feature filters. [4] Ask which application and exact supplied item were checked.

Have the diagnosed repair item matched

Use ATP's part-fitment request. Include the established finding and application record; fitment, package contents and availability require confirmation.

Common A26 no-start questions

Does this fuel bulletin cover every A26?

No. The stated engine and serial application must match.

Does low cranking rail pressure prove a failed pump?

Keep the complete diagnosis and measured findings before selecting a replacement.

Should recent filter service be mentioned?

Yes. Provide the fitted filter identity, service history and exact sequence of symptoms.

Does a no-start in cold weather prove fuel gelling?

No. Preserve the conditions and obtain verified fuel-system findings.

What if the engine starts in the shop?

Record what changed and arrange the matched verification for the original complaint conditions.
