International A26 Parts Identification: Serial, Build and VIN

Quick answer: Identify the installed A26 with its full engine serial, emissions/build record, truck VIN and actual component markings before checking a replacement. Preserve the electronic engine/vehicle record as supporting evidence and reconcile known replacements. An International or MaxxForce listing title alone does not establish the correct A26 application. The manufacturer's A26 data-plate and VIN-based service descriptions support keeping those records together. [1] [4]

Application: A26 parts-identification planning. Electronic-record details come from the copyright-2022 A26 feature document. The separately dated 2019 engine-build/serial and 2017 LT-chassis examples illustrate their stated limits; they are not universal A26 repair or interchange rules.

Which A26 identification details belong with a parts request?

Keep the exact installed engine model and complete serial, readable emissions-label information, engine build record where available, truck VIN, chassis model and vehicle build details. Copy characters exactly and mark unreadable information as uncertain. Include engine or major-assembly replacement history.

Photograph safely accessible labels and component markings without removing equipment for a guess. If a label is missing or records conflict, ask the service provider to confirm the installed identity. Keep the original vehicle record and present hardware separate until the difference is resolved.

International's Service Information overview describes VIN-based parts/service data and filtering by engine, model, vendor and feature. [4] That describes the manufacturer's lookup system; it is not a public fitment confirmation for an individual product.

What can the A26 electronic data plate add?

The A26 Data Plate document A26_DP_03162022, copyright 2022, lists stored VIN, vehicle model, engine serial, rating and ECM-serial information. Its FAQ says a service tool displays the values and an authorized dealer can correct module information after replacement. [1]

Ask for the available identification report alongside the physical-label record. If the controller information, engine labels and original VIN history disagree, preserve each record and explain the known replacement history before the lookup. Do not select a part simply because one of the conflicting records returns a convenient match.

Record Keep with the request Confirmation needed
Installed engine Full serial, model, emissions/build record. Does the lookup match the engine actually fitted?
Vehicle VIN, chassis model, build and features. Which vehicle-specific application is recorded?
Electronic identity Available engine/controller report. Do stored and physical records agree?
Actual component Complete markings, photos and repair history. Which replacement and supplied items are confirmed?

Why keep both engine build and full serial information?

There is a concrete dated example. IK1201410 revision 34, January 8, 2019, states applicability to A26 engines built before April 4, 2018 with ESN 4505507 and below. [2] The engine build condition and serial condition belong together; a truck-year estimate alone cannot establish that scope.

This rocker-arm document is used here only to explain the value of precise identification. It does not establish a current repair entitlement, a failure rate or a reason to replace an assembly. Have the current engine-specific instructions and actual findings determine any service work.

Why does the truck model matter even after A26 is confirmed?

IK0700102, October 4, 2017, specifically names LT chassis with A26 engines for a rear coolant-line connection example. [3] Keep chassis information with the engine record; the A26 name alone does not establish that example's application.

Provide feature information relevant to the diagnosed item and ask which chassis and engine records were used for the quote. If an assembly has been changed, identify the fitted version rather than assuming the original vehicle configuration still describes every part.

Which component details distinguish the A26 parts inquiry?

Keep the diagnosed component name, complete number or label, revision/suffix where shown, safely obtained photos, connections and known replacement history together. Ask whether the request is for a complete assembly, related actuator/sensor, wiring repair, connection or another identified item.

A shared brand, similar displacement or familiar MaxxForce description does not replace that application check. This guide supplies no universal A26-to-MaxxForce interchange list and does not assert that every part differs. Request the actual current replacement application, included seals/hardware and any required installation or setup scope.

What should ATP receive before confirming a replacement?

Send the installed engine and vehicle records, actual component identity, diagnostic conclusion, available report/photos and the known changes. State unresolved information clearly. Have the quote name the application used, the supplied item and any remaining question.

Send the complete A26 identification record

Use ATP's part-fitment request. Fitment, supplied contents and availability require confirmation.

Retain that confirmed identity with the work order and the repair-verification plan. A parts-search result or a diagram heading should not be recorded as a verified component diagnosis.

Common A26 identification questions

Does an International or MaxxForce listing confirm an A26 part?

No. Match the installed engine, vehicle configuration and actual component to the current replacement application.

Should I send the VIN or the engine serial?

Keep both, with the installed component and any replacement history.

Does a matching serial alone satisfy the rocker-arm example?

The cited revision states both engine-build and serial conditions. Confirm current applicability separately.

Can the electronic data plate replace checking conflicting labels?

Preserve and reconcile the records. The cited document describes stored identification, including correction after module replacement.

Which details belong on the final quote?

The confirmed application, exact repair item, package contents and relevant installation/verification scope.

These primary manufacturer documents support the stated examples. Dated bulletins explain diagnostic distinctions; the current service information for your engine controls the repair. ATP prepared this editorial guide; no independent technician review is claimed.
