Remanufactured Truck Parts: A Core Return Checklist for Buyers
A core return and a return of an unused replacement part are different transactions. When a remanufactured truck component is offered with an exchange or core arrangement, confirm the terms for that specific quotation before you order. The word remanufactured alone does not tell you the deposit, deadline or acceptance rules.
Use this checklist to document the commercial details. It does not replace the seller's written policy or the manufacturer's current acceptance requirements, and it does not set a core-return policy for every Advanced Truck Parts listing.
Separate the three decisions
First, verify the replacement part and its scope of supply. Second, decide whether the offered condition and warranty suit the job. Third, confirm any core arrangement. Keep those answers separate so a correct replacement is not confused with an automatically eligible return core.
Manufacturer programs can have their own inspection process. For example, Cummins describes a core-acceptance process for its ReCon program. That program description does not establish another seller's deadline, freight arrangement or refund timing. Ask for the terms that apply to your actual order.
Before payment: record the agreement
- The replacement part number, condition, quantity and included components.
- Whether a core is required; if it is, the exact deposit or exchange amount.
- The eligible core identification and any completeness or condition requirements.
- The return deadline, what event starts the clock, and what counts as meeting it.
- The authorization process, destination and responsibility for return freight.
- How acceptance is decided and how any credit will be issued.
Record the written source and date for these answers. If a term is unclear, ask before approving the order. A general unused-parts return policy may not describe a core exchange.

Preserve evidence and follow the return instructions
Keep the identification labels readable and take photographs before packaging. Ask the seller for its preparation and packaging instructions and confirm the carrier's requirements for the component being shipped. Keep the authorization, tracking and delivery records together. Do not assume every remanufacturer accepts the same preparation or packaging.
Follow up against the written inspection and credit process. Match any credit to the original invoice and deposit, then close the record. If the amount differs from the agreement, ask for the inspection finding and the policy provision used.
Buying through Advanced Truck Parts
Check the individual listing and obtain written answers for any applicable core arrangement. Use our fitment verification form for identification questions. Our published refund policy addresses replacement-part returns; do not assume its terms describe a separate core exchange.
Frequently asked questions
Does every remanufactured part have a core deposit?
Confirm the actual offer. Do not infer a deposit or exchange obligation from the condition label alone.
Can I send a core to the ordinary returns address?
Obtain the correct authorization and destination for that transaction before shipping.
Is this a guarantee that my core will be accepted?
No. Acceptance depends on the applicable program and agreement. The checklist records the questions and evidence needed to manage the process.
Can our shop reuse the blank record?
Yes. You may print and share the blank worksheet for purchasing and training. If reproduced online, identify Advanced Truck Parts as the source. Linking to the original is appreciated and optional.
