Freight/Oversize Shipments
Freight/LTL shipping quotes are calculated based on delivery to commercial addresses.Β  This means that the property must be commercially zoned and have official business hours of operations.Β  If you do not have a business address and you have already purchased a Freight or Oversized item then we will contact you with an updated shipping charge that must be paid for delivery.Β  If you have not purchased yet and would like a shipping quote to a non commercial address, we are more than happy to help!

When a Freight shipment arrives doΒ notΒ sign the delivery receipt before you have fully inspected the package and have marked down the exceptions and damages on the receipt if they apply.Β  If a Freight shipment does arrive and is damaged, we can not help you if you did not sign for it as damaged and clearly note it on the delivery receipt.

Upon delivery of the shipment, if you do not have the ability and/or equipment to unload your product the freight carrier may ask if you would like to have them unload the product with a lift gate or other methods. Any additional services requested such as this may incur an additional fee charged to the customer by the freight carrier and Advanced Truck PartsΒ is not responsible for such charges. The decision to accept these charges lies solely with the delivery recipient.

Β Free Shipping also does not apply to oversized or freight items unless specifically stated and a commercial zone address is required.

Canada Shipments
Applicable for Ground Shipments Only - Canada Customs requires Canadian recipients to pay applicable duties and taxes on each shipment entering Canada.Β  These charges may include POST, GST, HST, duties and other taxes of goods.Β  A brokerage fee may also be charged to process shipments and present the requisite customs paperwork to Canada Customs on the importer's behalf. In some cases, orders may be sent in multiple shipments and can incur additional brokerage charges imposed by Canada Customs. The customer is responsible for brokerage fees, POST, GST, HST, duties and other taxes of goods that are imposed by shipping companies or Canada Customs. In the event the customer refuses to pay those fees, Advanced Truck PartsΒ may be forced to abandon the product at the Canadian border. In that case, the customer will receive no refund back because the product will be lost. *Note - No additional taxes or duties are due for Freight/LTL shipments

All warranty claims and damaged items claims need to be handled through Advanced Truck Parts. Do not contact the manufacturer of the product directly as they will not be able to assist you in receiving a new item. CUMMINS WATER PUMPS

Key Points

The water pump in a Cummins diesel engine is a critical component of the cooling system, responsible for circulating coolant through the engine block, cylinder head, and radiator to maintain proper operating temperature.

In heavy-duty Cummins engines (like the ISX/X15 series), the water pump is typically a gear-driven centrifugal pump mounted on the front timing gear case.

A failing water pump in a Cummins engine can lead to various symptoms of cooling system distress.

One common sign is coolant leakage from the pump.

Purpose

The water pump in a Cummins diesel engine is a critical component of the cooling system, responsible for circulating coolant through the engine block, cylinder head, and radiator to maintain proper operating temperature. In heavy-duty Cummins engines (like the ISX/X15 series), the water pump is typically a gear-driven centrifugal pump mounted on the front timing gear case. It uses an impeller to push coolant through the engine’s water jackets and out to the radiator. By maintaining coolant flow, the water pump prevents hotspots and overheating, which is vital for engine efficiency and longevity – an adequately cooled Cummins can work hard under load without overheating. Cummins has employed some advanced designs: for instance, some high-output engines feature a two-loop cooling system (separate circuits for aftercooler and jacket water) with dual water pumps. The pump also often incorporates a bypass for thermostat warm-up control. In summary, the purpose of the Cummins water pump is to ensure stable engine temperatures whether idling or climbing a grade, which in turn preserves performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions control. A well-functioning pump contributes to consistent cooling, preventing power loss due to excessive heat and guarding against engine damage from overheating.

Common Failure Signs

A failing water pump in a Cummins engine can lead to various symptoms of cooling system distress.

One common sign is coolant leakage from the pump.

Cummins water pumps have a weep hole – if the internal seal starts to fail, you’ll often see a slow coolant drip or streak from the weep hole area as an early warning.

Any visible coolant leak (especially under the front of the engine or behind the pulley) should be investigated.

Another symptom is engine overheating, particularly under heavy load or high ambient temperatures – a worn or eroded impeller may not circulate coolant effectively, causing temperature to climb.

In extreme cases on certain Cummins models, a catastrophic pump failure can cause a sudden massive coolant loss or even mechanical damage (one blog notes it can be as dramatic as parts of the pump β€œexploding” off the front of the engine in rare failures).

Installation Notes

When replacing a Cummins water pump, proper installation is crucial for reliable cooling. Drain the coolant to a level below the pump housing before removal (Cummins engines often have a coolant drain plug or you can drain from the radiator). Remove the drive belt if it’s a belt-driven pump (as on some medium-duty Cummins like the B/C series) or ensure the engine is barred over to relieve gear tension if it’s gear-driven. Once the old pump is out, clean the mating surfaces on the engine block or gear cover – old gasket material or corrosion must be removed to ensure a leak-free seal. Install a new gasket (or O-ring, depending on model) – Cummins-supplied water pump kits typically include the correct gasket; a thin layer of sealant may be recommended on some paper gaskets, whereas O-ring designs go on clean and dry. If the pump is gear-driven, ensure the gear meshes properly as you seat the pump (line up any timing marks if applicable, though most Cummins water pump gears are not timed except in rare twin-loop systems). Torque the mounting bolts evenly to the specification (commonly in the 18–30 ftΒ·lb range for many pumps) in a cross pattern to avoid distortion. It’s advisable to also inspect or replace the thermostat(s) while the coolant is drained – Cummins engines often have dual thermostats that should be functioning to regulate flow. After installation, refill the cooling system with the correct coolant mixture, using the opportunity to renew coolant if it’s old. Bleed air from the system by opening the heater valves and any bleed ports; some Cummins have a vent plug near the top of the thermostat housing – open this while filling to purge trapped air. Once filled, start the engine and check for leaks around the pump. Let the engine warm up to ensure the thermostat opens and coolant circulates (monitor the temperature gauge). Finally, recheck coolant level and add if needed. With the new water pump properly installed and no leaks, the Cummins engine should maintain stable temperatures under all operating conditions.

Important: Always verify fitment by part number before installation and follow OEM torque specifications.

As a fire department, we reached out to Advancedtruckparts.com for some parts. Once we realized their company was in our area, we visited them in person. All of the employees that we came across were very polite and extremely helpful....

ALEX

Jimmy in parts was exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure I had the correct part when we needed a new Battery Box lid after ours was stolen! He found the best price possible for the part and made the transaction over the phone quick and easy. Their prices for the same products were lower than the ridiculous prices at dealers services places.
